Same problem for me (Windows Server 2008 R2).
What about this problem ? Maschoff, can you confirm we may hope a solution in OpenEMM 2013 (and maybe a backport for 2011) ?
I don't see any Windows version of 'xmlback.exe' in 2013 RC2, so I'm afraid to have to live definitively without solution ...
I'm a Windows developer too (like others here). Can we help somehow ?
From far, OpenEMM seems to be THE best open-source e-mailing solution. What a pitty if we had to drop it, due to a small bug (probably not so hard to fix) !

The bug is hard to fix (otherwise someone else would have fixed it in the last 18 months, OpenEMM is open source after all). It is the first time since launch in 2006 that a feature which works in the Linux version does not work in the Windows version. The reason is that the MS C compiler somehow produces a xmlback version with this bug while the Linux C Compiler generates a flawless version.

We will publish a Windows version of OpenEMM 2013 only if that problem has been fixed and we will provide a backport for OpenEMM 2011, too but we focus on the Linux version right now. The final release of OpenEMM 2013 for Linux will be published in the next 7 days.

It's not a Windows only issue. To quote myself:
friedbrain wrote:I have the same issue with OpenEMM 2011 on 64 Bit CentOS
CentOS is a Linux distribution.

We are not aware that there are problems with 64 Bit Linux. Please make sure that you installed libs glibc.i686, libxml2.i686 and libz.i686. If this does not work you should provide more info so that we can reproduce the problem.

Code: Select all

rpm -q glibc
glibc-2.12-1.80.el6_3.6.x86_64
glibc-2.12-1.80.el6_3.6.i686

rpm -q libxml2
libxml2-2.7.6-8.el6_3.4.x86_64
libxml2-2.7.6-8.el6_3.4.i686
libz seems not to be installed although I see it in the lib64 folders:

Code: Select all

rpm -q libz
package libz is not installed
bav, bavwrap, smctrl, updater and xmlback are the OpenEMM sub-programs and not packages, right?

Edit: There is a package zlib installed which seems to be the equivalent to libz on CentOS.

zlib is ok, and yes, bav, bavwrap, smctrl, updater and xmlback are part of OpenEMM.

Does your problem still exist? If so, please post the HTML code causing the problem and any related log output to catalina.out.

I don't know which HTML code causes the problem but it's this that is executed in an iFrame:
/openemm/mailingsend.do?action=16&mailingID=5&previewFormat=1&previewCustomerID=22

The HTML source code of this is:

Code: Select all

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
<html>
<head>
	<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">

	 <link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="assets/core/images/stylesheet.css">
     <link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="styles/displaytag.css">
     <link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="styles/tooltiphelp.css">
     <link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="styles/reportstyles.css">

</head>
<body>
<logic:messagesPresent>
	<div style="padding: 10px">
		<div class="error_box">
				<span class="error_message">Fehler in Dyn-Tags.</span><br />
		</div>
	</div>
</logic:messagesPresent>
</body>
</html>
The catalina.out puts out only this, no errors, no exceptions:

Code: Select all

The only dyn tags I have are

Code: Select all

[agnDYN name="Text"/]
for the text version and

Code: Select all

[agnDYN name="HTML-Version"/]
for the HTML version.

It also happens when the text modules for HTML and text just contain a 'test' as content.

OK, I've got it:

Our installation didn't have the home folder at /home/openemm. After I changed the emm.properties to the real home folder it works. :)

This is the exception in the catalina.out that led me to this:

Code: Select all

triggerMailing: java.io.FileNotFoundException: /home/openemm/var/spool/META/AgnMail=D20130123125304=1=6=00001=liaMngA.xml (No such file or directory)

Apologies for thinking this is a bug for Linux, too.

OK, great that you could sort it out!

BTW, as of today the final release of OpenEMM 2013 is available. :-)

Hello, I have installed Openemm 2011 on Windows platform. Created a Basic email and tried Preview mailing. It displays "Error in Dyn Tags."

Even if make it simple text, still I get the same error. Any problems?

Thank you,

Jay Reddy

Yes, this is a known bug. It will be fixed in OpenEMM 2013 and we try to provide a backport for OpenEMM 2011

The good news: The bug with OpenEMM tags agnTITLE and agnTITLEFULL on Windows platforms has disappeared in the Windows version of OpenEMM 2013 (to be released within the next 6 days).

The bad news: We do not know why, because we did not fix this bug. It seems to be gone because of other code changes. So, we have to dig a little bit deeper to find out the real reason in order to provide a backport for OpenEMM 2011.

The Windows binary of OpenEMM 2013 is now available at SourceForge:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/openem ... MM%202013/

Please check if it works for you too.

It has to do with the 64 Bit-Systems. Even if you don´t speak a word of german, you will understand this Post:

http://www.sysadminslife.com/linux/quic ... ia32-libs/

THIS HELPED US OUT A LOT AND NOW IT WORKS!!!!
